We have signed a partnership agreement with A.P.S. Solutions. The company will be distributor of inStudio, our Multimedia Asset Management Solution for Italy.

A.P.S. Solutions operates on the Italian market as a distributor and integrator for IT solutions helping to manage digital data. The company provides digital asset management and VoIP solutions in value added services model.

Cooperation with A.P.S. Solutions is part of our Partner Network strategy, aiming to recruit new distributors to introduce our video archiving solution worldwide.

Technologies that will become a base for new inStudio have been chosen:

• Backend layer will be based on Erlang programming language
• Frontend layer will use Ruby on Rails framework

What does it mean for the development process and for inStudio itself?

Erlang is a programming language created by Ericsson for reliable software building – it allows the application to work continuously and serve many tasks at the same time. We have decided that Erlang will be a suitable base for the backend of inStudio, that is, between the user interface and data. This mediation process simplifies the management of such activities as archiving and file transcoding (change of format). It will guarantee our media asset management solution to be highly efficient and reliable.

At the same time the user interface will use Ruby on Rails technology, which assures quick and smooth design of the web application. This technology has also an ergonomic interface. It will help us bring you the best results as soon as possible.

Erlang and Ruby on Rails are a perfect and modern match in software development for the web.

Changes planned in inStudio multimedia asset management solution:

• 100% of solution as a web application – accessible over the web, no expended hardware requirements,

• accessibility on the OS of your choice – flexibility and easier deployment process,

• support for wider range of video formats,

• solutions making video resources accessible for internauts,

• even more user-friendly interface: functional and intuitive.

Internet application (web application)

The next version of our digital video archiving software will be fully web application. It means that all the modules of inStudio – Archivist, Searcher, Admin – will be available through an internet browser, and will allow adding new video resources, indexing and describing them. At the same time all files could be searched immediately after that has been done.

Until now only the Searcher module, used to search and preview collected videos, was available via a web browser. While inStudio Archivist, used to archive video resources, was a desktop application and required specific hardware.

The new version will help decrease cost and time of deployment, as well as increase accessibility of the solution (from any place in the world within seconds via www).

OS of your choice

The application will be cross-platform and will give you not only freedom of choice, but also decrease cost of deployment. Our MAM software will adapt to your IT infrastructure and provide higher Return On Investment.

Wider range of video formats

The range of supported formats will be expanded. Currently, inStudio supports the same formats as QuickTime, while the new version will be more flexible and will support, for example, MXF and other formats.

Making videos accessible for external users

We also plan to implement solutions that allow to make archived resources available for everyone on the Internet. It will give a chance to share videos with a wider audience, not only with authorized users.

Changes in the interface

The interface will be improved to provide a more user-friendly tool: more comfortable to use and outstanding in terms of graphics.

Since the first version of inStudio was presented, we have been collecting clients’ feedback, researching the market and following the changing trends. Using our rich expertise, we are now starting development of the new version of our Multimedia Asset Management Solution inStudio.
